Senior UC Consultant

The company also offers several products and solutions of its own to extend the Microsoft unified communications platform for specific business and technology needs.
Job Summary:
You’ll work with enterprises helping them with achieving their UC transformation goals.  This involves a wide range of activities  including gathering requirements, driving design decisions, creating crisp documentation, performing SfB infrastructure installation, validating/troubleshooting installations, and doing knowledge transfer.  Successful candidates will have deep technical knowledge of the SfB product and the technologies SfB depends on (AD, network, gateways, PSTN, etc.).  Strong personal and communication skills are a must, given the wide range of customer stakeholders you will need to engage.

In addition to a deep technical knowledge, successful candidates will have Project Management experience of large-scale voice transformation projects including an awareness of PRINCE2, Scrum and ITIL frameworks.

Education/Technical Experience:

Experience in at least three of the following technologies (preferably all four)

  • Lync 2010/2013/SfB including Enterprise Voice
  • Office 365 CloudPBX
  • Exchange 2007 or above
  • Sonus and AudioCodes Gateways

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or the equivalent industry experience

8+ years of IT industry experience

5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Unified Communications

Understanding of core telephony concepts such as signaling, codecs, dial plans, phone number manipulation, call routing

Deep understanding of LAN/WAN concepts and infrastructure

Deep knowledge on PBX systems including the peculiarities that come with larger sites, e.g.

  • Faxes
  • Door openers
  • Alarming systems
  • IVRs
  • Contact centers

Enthusiasm/support for Microsoft’s UC vision

Experience with Enterprise Voice deployment and rollout

Experience integrating IP and TDM based telephony systems

Exceptional troubleshooting skills, using methodical and logical approach

Confident, willing to help, can-do attitude

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

Broad understanding of business requirements and processes

Creativity, ability to “think out of the box”

Must be able to work proactively and under pressure

English business fluent

Adaptability to a variety of task types

Ability to travel on a 50% basis, with occasional requirement for blocks of onsite project work and travel to international sites

Ability to work effectively both independently (also from a home office) and as part of a distributed team

Strong presentation skills

Minimum MCSE Communications

Project Management Experience:

Setting up the project, including kick-off and closure meetings

Define roles and responsibilities on the customer and the Unify2 side of the project

Define and agree dates for on-site appointments with customers

Coordination with 3rd party companies for on-site work

Ensure prerequisites of a site are met

Status tracking and reporting towards customer and internally

Participate in regular status calls with the customer

Overall project oversight

Provide feedback and help improving the practice together with the practice lead

Coordinate setup of other tooling for the sites

Leverage the Unify² Site Transformation Accelerator system to support all management tasks described above


Additional Certifications (MCSE, Lync MCM, MCA – AD, Exchange, PRINCE2 etc.)

Understanding of Microsoft’s culture and organization

Scripting skills, particularly in PowerShell

Experience working with global/multi-national enterprises

Experience with telephony/PBX systems
